Obtaining a Marriage License

A marriage license may be obtained at the Baldwin County Courthouse in Bay Minette by anyone over the age of 18. Identification - proof of U.S. citizenship, a valid driver's license and Social Security card or birth certificate - must be presented. The courthouse is open Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The charge for a license is $40. If the applicants choose to be married at the courthouse, there will be an additional $15 charge for the ceremony. Payment may be made via cash or money order. In Alabama, a Justice of the Peace cannot perform marriage services. Applicants may be married at the courthouse by the Chief Clerk or by a minister in the area. Additional questions may be directed to the County Courthouse at 251-937-0260.
